SVPEC at Emory & Henry College
As a partner in the Southwest Virginia Public Education Consortium, Emory & Henry College has developed education seminar courses that remain available to public school teachers in our region. Any of these courses can be taught during any regular Emory & Henry semester or summer session, with tuition, books, and fees paid for participants by Consortium funding.
Scheduling a class
Interested teachers and school administrators from our school districts may request any of the listed seminars for a minimum class of 6 students. Contact Sarah Williams in the Neff Education Center to request a class. Requested classes will be scheduled as soon as possible after the request is received. Our school districts include Bland County, Bristol City, Carroll County, Galax City, Grayson County, Smyth County, Washington County, and Wythe County.
Meeting times and places
Times and locations will be suited to the group of enrolled students.Three-credit courses meet for a whole semester. One-credit classes are conducted in four meetings, each three hours long, for a total of 12 clock hours. Typical meeting times are from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. one day each week, which makes the class convenient to the school day for most public school teachers.
