The Undergraduate Teacher Education Program at Emory & Henry College

Licensure options

Emory & Henry provides Virginia and TEAC approved initial teacher licensure programs in elementary/middle grades PK-8, and secondary programs (6-12) in a variety of teaching majors. Each of our programs meets or exceeds the requirements for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Programs are described in detail in the college catalog, available on line or upon request from the Admissions Office.

In addition to Virginia initial licensure programs, Emory & Henry offers a Fast Track M.Ed. in Professional Studies. This program does not include the content knowledge area for licensure, but it provides pedagogical and practicum training and experience. For students who already have a B.A. or B.S. degree in a teaching major, this M.Ed. facilitates the graduate's application for a teaching license.

Check lists of course requirements for all programs are available to download.

Students who wish to teach in the elementary/middle grades choose from three interdisciplinary majors that combine English and language arts, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics.
