The Junior Interview

All Juniors in Teacher Education are required to participate in a Junior Interview during the first semester of the junior year.

Students in the first semester of the Junior year should pick up registration forms from the Neff Education Center or print them from the link below and register for their interview as soon as their class schedule is final for the semester. It is important to wait until your class schedule is complete so that you do not schedule a time that conflicts with your classes.

Fall semester 2008 Junior interviews will be conducted September 22-25, 2008, with interviews scheduled each day between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The registration deadline is Monday, September 15th, and all Health and Statement forms must be filed in the Neff Education Center office by 4:00 p.m. on that date.

Spring semester 2009 Junior interviews will be conducted February 2-5, 2009, with interviews scheduled each day between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The registration deadline is Monday, January 26th, and all Health and Statement forms must be filed in the Neff Education Center office by 4:00 p.m. on that date.

Register now if you meet these requirements:

  • you are a Junior (at least 57 credit hours earned)
  • you have filed an Intent form stating your grade level and subject area of interest for teaching
  • you have completed at least one full semester of classes at Emory & Henry.
  • you have an Education Department advisor

If you are a Junior interested in being a teacher in PK-12 and do not meet requirements for the interview, stop by the Neff Center and talk with an advisor.

Check to see if your name is included on the list of juniors registered for fall semester or list of juniors registered for spring semester.

Preparing for your interview:

  • What we do in the Neff Education Center:
    • Check your record to see if you have filed paperwork to list your major and teacher education area correctly with the Registrar.
    • Check your Junior standing and your GPA.
    • Check with the Dean of Students office for a reference and recommendation.
    • Check to see if you have a Search of the Central Registry and a Praxis score report on file.
    • Check to see if you have filed a copy of your VCLA and VRA score reports.
    • Request your transcript and current class schedule from the Registrar.
    • Send you e-mail letting you know that times for interviews are available so you can schedule your interview.
  • What you must do:
    • Register for your interview.
    • File your Health Form. In most cases, the Student Health Center can complete this form for you.
    • File your written Statement in support of your desire to prepare for public school teaching. This statement must be handwritten.
    • Review your Checklist for Program Completion to be sure it is up to date. See your advisor about any questions you have regarding items on the Checklist.
    • Check your e-mail daily so that you do not miss important information. We will notify you by e-mail of any concerns regarding your interview.
    • Schedule a time for your interview so that we can plan to have faculty available at that time to meet with you.
